Lessons & Teaching Method

My focus for the beginning student of any age is to make the musical experience fun, relaxed and enjoyable.I love teaching piano – to both children and adults! Having brought up two sons of my own, I bring patience and understanding to teaching. I teach note-reading, rhythm, theory, and encourage creative playing. I make the lessons fun and engaging, often using games to help them learn.
 
My students really enjoy the songs in the lesson books I use (Piano Adventures), which motivates them to practice. My students learn a variety of classical, folk and contemporary songs in these books. When a student requests to learn a popular song, I am very supportive and happy to help them with it! I am sensitive to students’ different learning styles and adapt my teaching to that individual student, if necessary.

My Story

Hi, I’m Carol and I have been playing the piano and organ since I was 6 years old. Starting with private lessons in first grade, I studied throughout grade school and into college where took classes in Piano Pedagogy at Westminster Conservatory of Music.

 
In recent years, I have studied with pianists Rio Clemente, Chuck Lamb, and Dustin DeLuke and I currently perform regularly on piano and organ around Saratoga Springs, New York
